Puzzles

We’ve been doing a bunch of puzzles at work – coming up with the puzzles, and then everyone else trying to solve them. In general, they’ve been much harder than we thought, so I was pleased that the latest one I added was solved fairly quickly:

It’s a big enough umbrella for the daughter of the devil himself. I realized she probably was right – when I wake up, well, I know I’m gonna be reborn as fortune’s child to judge this Welsh Rarebit wearing mercury shootin through every degree.

So, you recognised “when I wake up, well, I know I’m gonna be”. Recognise any other bits? Google helps. Kate’s answer is almost right, but one letter off.

Now I know what the songs are and who sung them. And I still have no idea what I’m looking at.
This reinforces my long-held suspicion that lateral thinking and my brain are remote and indifferent strangers.

There seems to be some numbers there – a thusand rainy days, one, 50 ways, 500 miles, thousand years, revolution nine…..

Righto – got it eventually. Hmm. I think I suck. No, really.
But the podcast is great. Go listen to that and pay no attention to how much I’m rubbish at figuring out puzzles…

Yep , done that – It really is easier to listen than to a CD. Of course you realise that you will have to do more of them, so as to cover the whole gamut of songs and in jokes that work well on “radio”
