Induction 31st
August 17th 2010 -
Von’s visit to the Obstetrician yesterday was all fine, but Monkey has made no further moves, and remains 3/5 engaged. We’ve made a booking for induction on the 31st. My guess for the actual date, based on no data, is next Tuesday, the 24th. It’d be good to see age-based first child statistics about this kind of thing, though. Presumably 40 weeks is an average for all mothers, and depending on age, and whether it’s the first child, and possibly body shape the statistical distribution of delivery date (and complication likelihood) differs.
Wikipedia does indeed mention such statistics (Naegele’s Rule, etc), but it’s a bit of a mess.

Anyway , having had a great deal of input into these statistics, albeit on a singular genetic data point – We predict our baby to be born around 37 1/2 weeks or 8th December even though officially were due Christmas Eve….
Good luck, and may all messes be cleaned up and all pain reduced by considerable magnitudes by helpful hospital staff.
