Sick

February 4th 2009 -

Urgh. Sick today. Absolutely no point in getting out of bed; the weather is humid and outside the bedroom, the temperature is steadily rising to itchingly uncomfortable.
So, lying in bed, watching DVDs on my laptop. Worse ways of spending a day.

You know what’s better than that? We’ve had snow and too icy for buses to bring kids in.. so I’ve been to work at my school.. but with no kids! Schools work remarkably smoothly without young’uns… hmmm…

sorry.. that may seem a mean thing to bring up re the snow since you’re all hot… still I can dream about lovely, gorgeous sticky hot weather and you can dream about cold aching feet if you like!

No, that’s fine. We’ve got air conditioning at home in the bedroom and at work. The most annoying part is that the air conditioning makes the air dry and my lips are cracking – this in 80% humidity outside!

School without kids sounds like every teacher’s dream.

Too true.. although after a week with no kids (due to snow) it’s starting to get a bit dull… It’s dry here too (I could close my eyes and pretend all this is just airconditioning!)- plenty of lip balms here! We had snow AND thunder this morning.. how strange? I didn’t know that could happen…

I have been teasing “southerners” about how cold it is here in Townsville. We haven’t had a day over 30 degrees for weeks. It’s raining, and everywhere is airconditioned, so winter flu’s have been going around. Ingham schools have been closed for a week due to major flooding, but here in Townsville the main problem is a shortage of fresh milk due to highways being cut at various points along supply routes.

Nice and cool now, but it got up to low 40s on the weekend, and Von & I declared it ridiculous-day and spent the entire Saturday in A/C bedroom.
